The National Blood Clot Alliance (NBCA) recently announced its partnership with the Alexandra L. Rowan Memorial Foundation in the creation of Women & Blood Clots, a unique, new women’s health initiative focused on raising awareness of the continuous clotting challenges that confront women at different, crucial life stages: Birth Control & Family Planning, Pregnancy & Childbirth, and the onset of Menopause Symptoms that might be treated with hormone therapy.
The main feature of this education program involves a distinguishing web portal, www.womenandbloodclots.org, created by NBCA that focuses solely on the information women need to know about their potential risk for blood clots. NBCA also presented a compelling infographic and a multi-part video series tailored to address women’s blood clot risks and potential options for risk reduction.
Through their partnership, the NBCA and the Rowan Foundation also plan to implement a research initiative intended to improve understanding about the correlation between massive pulmonary embolism and estrogen-based birth control pills.
