The October 2015 edition of the Chain Drug Review featured two stories on CARE Pharmacies member, FlexCare Pharmacy and its owner Vivian Ayuk for her unsurpassed commitment to serving the healthcare needs of her community.
The first article, “The focus is always on people for CARE pharmacy owner,” highlights Ms. Ayuk’s journey towards becoming a pharmacy owner and provides a description of the pharmacy’s distinctive services. The article notes, “To Ayuk, what really counts is the number of people she helps each day – whether they be the loyal patients of FlexCare Pharmacy, the community health and wellness center she operates in the heart of the nation’s capital – or whether they are individuals she has met for the first time through her community outreach initiatives.”
Every day, Ms. Ayuk strives to create an environment centered on affordable healthcare options and safe medicine use while cultivating personal relationships with each of her patients to provide the maximum benefits.
The second article, “Diabetes care goes beyond drug store,” acknowledges FlexCare Pharmacy’s recent diabetes-related accreditation and its impact on the Washington D.C. community. In January 2015, FlexCare Pharmacy became the first pharmacy in the District of Columbia to earn accreditation with the American Association of Diabetes Educators. With this designation, FlexCare Pharmacy provides diabetes education classes and additional education services to help people with prediabetes and diabetes learn how to self-manage their condition.
