The DEA will promote April 30 as Drug Take-Back Day, giving Americans the opportunity to safely dispose of expired, unused and unwanted prescription drugs in pill and patch form. The previous 10 take-back events collected more than 5.5 million-lbs. of pills, according to the agency. “This initiative addresses a vital public safety and public health issue. Medicines that languish in home cabinets are highly susceptible to diversion, misuse and abuse,” the DEA said in a news release.
