For another year, the CARE 2015 Annual Member Meeting was a huge success!
This year’s meeting took place at the luxurious Salamander Resort and Spa in Middleburg, Va., and more than 90 percent of CARE’s members were in attendance. Meeting attendees spent three days discussing strategies for staying on track to remain the fastest growing drug chain, which is a position that CARE has maintained for the fourth year in a row.
In an effort to continue being a leader in specialty pharmacy at retail, CARE launched CARE|Connect at this year’s meeting. As the first specialty hub model of its kind, CARE|Connect allows specialty prescriptions brought to any CARE pharmacy to stay within the CARE family. The hub also provides backend hub services, including prior authorization, copay assistance and call-center functionality for those pharmacies wishing to enter the growing specialty market.
In addition to launching CARE|Connect, the meeting also focused on the tactics that make CARE Pharmacies Cooperative more of a regional drug chain than a loosely affiliated buying group. These actions include:
- Recording patronage dividends for the third year in a row
- Directing to manufacturer contracts distributed through a CARE warehouse
- Preserving strategic focus on quality using EQuIPP, Transitions of CARE and CARE|Connect
- Implementing the latest technology in support of initiatives
Members were fully engaged throughout the entire meeting. They networked late into the night on Friday and Saturday by sharing their best practices and building relationships. Then, they woke up early on Saturday and Sunday for live CE’s provided by Creative Pharmacist and McKesson. Additionally, CARE members assisted the USO by stuffing CARE bags for the soldiers serving overseas.
This year’s Preferred Partner Exhibition featured more than 40 preferred partners and presented many new and exciting opportunities for CARE members.
